Rebecca Mawii Zahau, 32, was discovered dead on July 13, 2011, at the Spreckels Beach House in Coronado, California, owned by her live-in boyfriend Medicis Pharmaceutical CEO Jonah Shacknai. Zahau's death occurred two days after Shacknai's 6-year-old son, Max, took a fatal fall from a staircase banister in the same beach house. Zahau was the only adult present at the time of his fall.[1] San Diego Sheriff Bill Gore announced on September 2, 2011, that Zahau's death was a suicide while the younger Shacknai's was an accident, and that neither was the result of foul play.[2] Members of Zahau's family sued Max's parents for $10 million, disputing the contention that her death was suicide.[3]

Rebecca's gruesome death, and her murder investigation, quickly became a very high profile case in the media. Numerous sites on the internet formed discussion groups exploring the details of her death, Max Shacknai's death, and the conclusions of the San Diego Sheriff's Office, and the Coronado Police Department. This forum is for discussion of the death of Rebecca Zahau, the investigation into her gruesome death, and the lawsuits that have been filed since her death. This forum is constructed and designed to assume a fairly knowledgeable base of information in readers and posters about the details of Rebecca's case, and the current Wrongful Death Lawsuit. As such, this forum will not attempt to re-create the voluminous details already available on the internet.

Readers and posters should also know that this forum does not intend, or pretend, to be neutral about the conclusions made by the San Diego Sheriff's Office. Organizers of this forum believe Rebecca Zahau was murdered, and that the suicide finding is incorrect. The organizers of this forum express our ongoing deep sympathies, and heartfelt support, for Rebecca's family and extended family, as they seek a small measure of comfort and justice for her death in the civil justice system.
